Just as the Baby Boomer generation defined a lifestyle, we now are re-defining retirement. Learning, travel, and meaningful involvement are sought by boomers. Traditional retirement communities are no longer the ideal. Many boomers are either working longer, or looking to retirement as an opportunity to launch a second career.
Funding retirement is a factor in decisions regarding retirement, with rising costs of healthcare and concerns about Social Security and Medicare. Saving for retirement was not always high on our priority list in our acquisition society and bad decisions came back to haunt us in the economic meltdown of recent years.
